how i approach music

i treat spotify like it's the radio. i think i know how to get the algorithm to work for me by now. i try to 'exclude playlists from my interests', as spotify calls it, especially the ones that include music i'm not particulary interested in exploring, like pop music. my discover weekly is essential, and i also listen to people's i follow. that gives me, at least, 30 new songs to listen to per week! i listen, add them to my respective playlists and keep exploring. artists radios, and spotify's playlists 'made for you' are really useless since they all have songs i already now. so i just go to the bottom of a playlist, or make a new one, and let it start playing new similar songs. other methods of finding music is listening to the actual radio and of course, websurfing! then, when im in public or i go out, i tend to listen to full albums, but i do this at home too of course:)

videogame music is as important and special to me as any other music is. it easily takes three different spots on my yearly wrapped. i obviously love orchestral pieces, by my goats yoko shimomura and nobuo uematsu for example, but i'm also talking about silly adventure time songs, or even disney music!

20.08.25 a very, very messy reflection.
i really despise the assumption that the way you (or me) treat people, the way we connect with our surroundings is through consumerism; to undervalue our true self and just lazily tie it to the movies we like, what artists we listen to. i once read 'try to introduce yourself without saying what your job is, what your hobbies are, what are your favorites'. can you do it? what else is left? well, there's you. you are left. me, for instance: i am shy but i yearn for connection. i am very impulsive, and i act on feeling. i am deeply sensitive to everything and everyone but also frustratingly difficult to express my feelings to my loved ones.
people love putting people in little categories. it's sort of inevitable. we as humans love doing it. stuff like 'if he listens to this he's a red flag', 'if she listens to this she's a female manipulator'. and while this could turn into a deeper, more meaningful conversation, this is just me talking. but im not saying that maybe it does define us. maybe bad people admire bad people. there is truth in that. but this is just between you and me. we are not evil. there is just so much fear rooted in perception, we do not wish to be percieved as hateful or as hollow. and we want to fit in whenever it is that we want to fit in. we follow because we don't know what else to do. but who is leading?
isn't it also incredibly infuriating to be misunderstood? because you like something it makes you some sort of way, but maybe that's not you. don't you think so too? just because you listen to radiohead it doesn't mean you're depressed. you might or might not be, but it isn't because you listen to radiohead. trust me. and then, with the being misunderstood. you're not entitled for reading theory or philosophy, and you are not annoying for writing longer reviews than everyone on letterboxd.
it's tiring for everyone to perfom all the time. people refrain themselves from enjoying things because it makes them look one way or the other. my taste contradicts itself all the time, it doesn't make me weird, but it also doesn't make me special. i don't want to be, i'm just me. i want you to indulge with what makes you truly happy. just do it for yourself. that's what matters.
